Angelina Jolie beats Bipasha Basu

So far, the films this Friday are turning out to be a damp squib, with Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal turning out to be a disaster and Shekhar Kapur's Elizabeth sequel being called un-engaging. Beowulf is your best bet for this weekend, and do try and catch it in 3-D.

vishal bhardwaj gets Lola

Vishal Bhardwaj has gone and done it again. After the Omkara man got the cameraman behind the fantastic Pan's Labyrinth to come and shoot for his short, now he's got Franka Potente on board for his next, apparently a biopic of Bollywood stunt-star Fearless Nadia. Wow.

The Om Shanti hype continues

It's maddening.
After months of massive hype, Om Shanti Om and Saawariya are finally out. We at Rediff seem to have loved the former and loathed the latter, and while there's some cause for Shah Rukh to celebrate having beaten Tom Cruise at the global box office (!) there's also a column with a more balanced outlook.

As for Saawariya, the lesser said the better. What do you all think, dear readers?

TV is all about teamwork: Shereen Bhan

She's one of the most recognised faces on television. She has interviewed the who's who of Indian business and then some. She was voted FICCI Woman of the Year in 2005 and has been oft described as one of the few TV journalists to add a touch of glamour to the field. She's CNBC anchor Shereen Bhan.

In an email interview with Rediff.com's Shifra Menezes, Shereen talks about her career in the television news industry and what it takes to make it big in this field.

Mutual funds for long term investors part one

Some think the market is a place to 'get-rich-quick'. And for some, that may be the case. For most of us, however, the real aim is long-term success.

With that in mind, check out part one of this article on long-term mutual funds.

Check for part two tomorrow.
